College Students Using their Summer to Live Out the Great Commission

“Coming into UC Irvine, my plans were simple and to the point, finish my major, get into med school, and maybe, marry the man of my dreams. Little did I know that God had a completely different direction and plan for me. God began placing leaders and friends involved with Cru in my life. They encouraged me to grow closer in my relationship and knowledge of God. They began pouring into me and giving me vision for the need in the Middle East to know of Christ. I wasn’t sure yet if this was where God was directing me, but I decided to apply to go on a full year mission trip to Cru’s campus partnership under the name Breakthrough. I was accepted! I graduated in June and now I head to the Middle East in September. I am so excited to see how God’s glory will be displayed through using me to let others know of him. I cannot wait to encourage others in their walk with God as I’ve been encouraged!” – Anna Lo (recent graduate from UC Irvine)

“Over the Colorado Operations Summer Mission, I was able to work with the Communications team on social media campaigns for Cru as well as video proposals for Cru’s YouTube content. We also participated in outreaches on Colorado State’s campus and in various cities where we were able to spread God’s word and engage in spiritual conversations. I loved that this internship opportunity allowed me to realize that God could use the skills I’ve acquired from my major to further His kingdom in a professional work setting. It was such a blessing to work with such Christ-centered individuals and seeing how God used each one of us.” – Janelle Suzara (Senior at Chapman University)

“I had to the opportunity to go on a one-week Cru summer mission in San Diego, California. I learned various evangelism techniques to start up conversations and share the gospel in my own personal life and on my college campus. God helped prepare me to be a leader and spread the love of Jesus on my campus. He also encouraged me by connecting me to other Cru students from across the country with the same goal. ” – Hank Moss (Junior at Chapman University)

God continues to show us the amazing ways He is moving! These are just a few of the stories from the summer. Praise Him for three UC Irvine graduates who are following the Lord’s call to work with students in the Middle East for the next year! We also had a number of students go on summer missions to grow in their relationship with Jesus and share His love with others. We are excited the fall semester started for the community colleges and Chapman University! It is a fun, busy season of flyering, tabling, postering, and passing out thousands of Cru sunglasses to incoming freshmen.
