Taking the Gospel to the World
This summer, fifteen students from South Orange County took a step of faith to go on a summer mission and several more were involved in Summer Connect with Cru locally. God is working in amazing ways in their lives whether they went overseas or stayed here in the U.S. We asked them to share with you some of the ways God worked in and through them. We hope you are encouraged to hear about some of their experiences…
“If I could summarize the summer it would be life-changing. God taught me a lot about His character. His heart breaks for the lost that do not know Him. I witnessed the way He is persistently knocking at the door of their hearts. God is moving in the Middle East, and it was a joy to be used by Him. Within the week that we left two of our national friends committed their lives to Christ! Praise God for His Sovereignty! Going on a summer mission has left me burdened to bring Jesus to the lost and rejoicing even more in the Gospel!” – Miranda Mendoza, Senior at UC Irvine
“This summer I got to experience the powerful and loving work of God in Tokyo, Japan. The mission team was clearly hand-picked by God, since we immediately grew in love for one another, unified in Christ through putting off ourselves and embracing compassion, kindness, and forbearance with one another (Colossians 3:12-13). We were empowered through the word and encouragement from one another day by day to go out on several campuses and seek out students to have genuine conversations and share the gospel. For myself, I have been reestablished in hungering love for Jesus and his word each day. It is my hope that through the Spirit I can carry over the same heart and desire to share Christ with others in returning to UCI this September.” – Alex Bagg, Senior at UC Irvine
“I’ve been involved in Summer Connect in Orange County while taking my business capstone course at Chapman this summer. I perceive the Lord is at work refining my heart and mind right now through learning about prayer and other things. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow spiritually.” – Cristian Rodgers-Rosales, Senior at Chapman University
“I had the amazing opportunity to go overseas this summer and share the Gospel in the Middle East! On top of making many dear friends, God showed me how the Gospel transforms me as well as the people we share it with. I too am given the same grace that Jesus is offering to our friends who do not know Him. God is moving in so many amazing ways! I am very excited for each way He spoke into the lives of the people that I met.” – Quentin Mitten, Senior at UC Irvine
“God blessed me this summer by using me to lead Harriet, a girl I met on the beach in San Diego from London, to Christ. It was an incredible experience to watch God set up this divine appointment and see the Holy Spirit moving in Harriet. It is a privilege to be part of growing God’s kingdom and bringing Him glory.” – Racquel Rackley, Junior at UC Irvine
Thank you for your faithful partnership in ministry! We continue to count it a privilege to serve the Lord alongside you. We are so excited for the start of the new school year and are anticipating the Lord continuing to build His kingdom and transform lives.
- Pray for the incoming freshmen class to have open hearts to hearing the gospel.
- Pray for all of our Cru movements in Orange County: UC Irvine, Chapman University, Irvine Valley College, Saddleback Community College, Greek, Bridges (International Students), Epic (Asian American Students), and Destino (Latino American Students).
- Pray for favor with the universities as we schedule tabling, reserve rooms, and interact with faculty.
- Pray for the Lord to continue transform the lives of college students in the Middle East at our partner universities. This country is considered one of the most unreached nations in the world. 99% of the population is Muslim and we desire for them to know the love of Jesus.
